Step 1
The first process a rug goes through when a customer brings Captain Rug Wash a rug in for cleaning is a through inspection. This inspection documents the condition of the rug, including stains, wear, damage, pre-exisitng conditions, previous cleaning damage, sun fade, dog accidents etc
Step 2
Captain Rug Wash will then use his RugBadger machine on the rug to gentle vibrate out up to 80% of the dry soil in the rugs pile. Dry soil is very damaging and consists of hair, sand, grit, mud, dry food particles, skin, dust and bacteria. This is taken out of the rug before any water is put on the rug.
Step 3
Step 3 is to fully soak the rug in water and cleaning solutions, if the rugs dyes are not stable these will be treated with a dye stabiliser solution at this stage. This solution will prevent the dye migration from bleeding into lighter colours and the fringes. A rotary machine with very soft brushes is used on the rug to agitate the cleaning solution deep down into the pile of the rug. The pile of the rug is cleaned then the rug is turned upside down and the back of the rug is cleaned.
Step 4
This step involves cleaning the fringes of the rug with a fringe cleaning solution. This solution is designed to break down dirt and grease in cotton, wool and silk fringing.

The rug is then flushed out with gallons of water. This rinse will flush out all the dirt in the rug and the cleaning solutions that Captain Rug Wash has put in the rug to give it a deep clean. This is a very important step as if any solutions are left in the rug it can cause future damage and can attract soil to the rug, making it resoil quicker.
Step 6
We then hang the rug in our drying room where air movers and dehumidifiers quickly dry your rugs. Some larger rugs can take several hours to fully dry out.
Step 7
Once the rug is fully dry it is groomed with soft brushes and the fringes are groomed and trimmed.
Step 8
If the customer has requested Rug Pad and Protection this is carried out once the rug has had a final inspection to make sure it is as clean as it is going to be.
Note.
If the rug has odour problems, before any cleaning takes place the rug is soaked in an odour removal solution, sometimes for several hours. Rugs with a laminated backing are difficult to remove 100% of the odour. This is because if you soak a machine made rug with a laminated backing. The backing will come apart and separate from the pile of the rug.
